… who cared about the forest and wanted to transform it

Written and illustrated by Aisha So, Hero was part of a process of reflection emerging from the course Transformative Research for Sustainability Challenges, co-organised by Wageningen University, Utrecht University, University of Twente, and Stockholm Resilience Centre. Hero won a special prize in the 2024 EASST-4S short story competition organised by researchers from the Society for Social Studies of Science (4S) and the European Association for the Study of Science and Technology (EASST). The story has also been published in the EASST Review.
